Dubai residents warned against using unregistered pills and cosmetics

The public is being warned against using supplements and healthcare products that are not registered with Dubai Municipality.

A circular issued by the civic body covers weight loss pills, supplements and cosmetics, especially those that are being sold online from outside the UAE.

Authorities say many of them contain internationally banned ingredients that could cause serious adverse health effects, such as high blood pressure, heart failure and stroke.

The municipality says it’s withdrawn a number of banned products from the local market.

It recently launched a portal called ‘Montaji’ where merchants can register their products, which consumers can then look up.
