Turkey detains 300 people over criticism of Syrian offensive

More than 300 people have been detained in Turkey for social media posts criticising its military offensive in Syria.

This comes a day after Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan accused doctors who opposed the campaign of betrayal.

Authorities warned that anyone who opposed or misrepresented the ground and air offensives would be prosecuted for spreading terrorist propaganda.

Politicians, journalists and activists are among those who’ve been arrested over the last 10 days.
